Privacy Policy

1. Overview

GIF Compress Pro ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our Service at gifcompress.pro, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not sell your personal data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Files You Upload

When you upload a file for conversion, that file is temporarily stored on our servers solely for the purpose of processing your request. All uploaded files and converted outputs are automatically and permanently deleted within 24 hours. We do not analyse, index, or share the content of your files with any third party.

2.2 Conversion Metadata

We store limited metadata about each conversion in our database, including: the original filename, file size, conversion settings (fps, colours, scale), conversion status, and the timestamp of the request. This metadata helps us display the public conversion history and diagnose errors. It does not include the file content itself.

2.3 Log Data

Like most web services, our servers automatically record standard log data when you visit the Service. This may include your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and the date and time of your request. Log data is used for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics. It is not linked to your identity and is retained for a maximum of 30 days.

2.4 Cookies & Local Storage

We use a small number of cookies and browser local storage entries that are strictly necessary for the Service to function (e.g., session state). We do not use tracking cookies for behavioural advertising on our own behalf.

3. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. For more information on how Google uses data from sites that use its advertising services, see Google's Privacy & Terms.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process your file conversion requests and deliver the output.
  • Display the public conversion history dashboard.
  • Monitor for abuse, security incidents, and technical errors.
  • Comply with legal obligations, including responding to valid DMCA takedown notices.
  • Improve the performance and reliability of the Service.

We do not use your data for profiling, targeted advertising on our own behalf, or any automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use cloud infrastructure providers (including AWS S3 for temporary file storage) to operate the Service. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to keep it confidential.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • DMCA compliance: In responding to a valid DMCA takedown notice, we may disclose the URL of the allegedly infringing content to the notifying party.

6. Data Retention

Uploaded files and converted outputs are deleted automatically within 24 hours of upload. Conversion metadata (filename, size, settings, status) is retained in our database for up to 30 days to support the public history feature, after which it is also deleted. Server log data is retained for a maximum of 30 days.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit and access controls on our servers. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not collect account information, most data we hold is anonymised or pseudonymised. If you wish to request deletion of specific data (such as a conversion record linked to your IP address), please contact us at the address below.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
