Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GIF Compress Pro (the "Service"), available at gifcompress.pro, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time; continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Service

GIF Compress Pro is a free, browser-based tool that allows users to upload video (MP4) or animated image (GIF) files, convert and compress them into optimised GIF files, and receive a temporary shareable link to the output. No account or registration is required.

3. Automatic File Deletion

All uploaded and converted files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours of upload. We do not maintain long-term archives of user files. You should download your converted GIF immediately after conversion. We make no guarantees that files will be accessible beyond the 24-hour window, and we accept no liability for files that have been deleted in accordance with this policy.

If you require earlier deletion of a specific file, you may contact us at the address in Section 11 and we will endeavour to remove it promptly.

4. Prohibited Content & Copyright Policy

You are solely responsible for all files you upload to the Service. You represent and warrant that:

  • You own the copyright in the uploaded file, or you have obtained all necessary licences, permissions, and consents from the copyright owner to upload, convert, and share the file.
  • The file does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, or trade secret rights.
  • The file does not contain illegal content, including but not limited to child sexual abuse material (CSAM), content that incites violence, or content that violates applicable law.
  • You will not use the Service to circumvent digital rights management (DRM) protections or to reproduce commercially distributed media without authorisation.

We reserve the right to remove any content and terminate access for any user who, in our sole discretion, violates this policy.

5. DMCA Takedown Procedure

GIF Compress Pro respects the intellectual property rights of others and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe that material hosted on our Service infringes your copyright, please send a written notice containing all of the following to our designated agent (see Section 11):

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or authorised agent.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Identification of the allegedly infringing material and information sufficient for us to locate it (e.g., the full URL of the shareable link).
  4. Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email address).
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

Upon receipt of a valid DMCA notice, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material. Please note that given our 24-hour automatic deletion policy (Section 3), most files will already have been deleted before a takedown notice is processed.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GIF COMPRESS PRO AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $10.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GIF Compress Pro and its operators, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your access to or use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; or (c) your infringement of any third-party intellectual property or other rights.

9. Third-Party Advertising

The Service displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. These advertisements are provided by a third party and are subject to Google's own privacy and advertising policies. We do not control the content of third-party advertisements and accept no responsibility for them.

10. Open Source Attribution

This Service uses FFmpeg, which is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public Licence v2.1 (LGPLv2.1). The FFmpeg source code is available at github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation in the first instance.
